Even cedar outdoor furniture, which is weather resistant due to the natural oils it produces, is not entirely weatherproof.  That means that, although the untreated wood furniture can last for years against tough elements, there comes a point when there are weaknesses in the old wood, such as splinters or dead areas that weren’t well oiled, that will allow water to seep in and cause further splintering and swelling that misshapes the wood.  When you use covers, you prevent such tragedies from occurring, assisting your furniture in maintaining its strength against the elements.

For other garden furniture materials, such as plastic or wicker, the covers will help to keep your furniture clean and keep paint from peeling, meaning that this furniture will also last longer.  The bottom line is that, if you want to invest in lawn and garden décor, you also need to invest in protection for your purchases.  Don’t let your investments go to waste; use outdoor furniture covers to protect them from the weather that can’t be avoided.
